TV antenna swap-out Scotland for Digital Switch Over
Helirig successfully completes the first heavy-lift helicopter operation of its type in the UK.
In association with Airlift and Heliswiss, 3 TV transmission antennas have been changed, from analogue to digital, at the following main TV transmitting stations:
Rumster Forest near Wick
Durris near Aberdeen
Angus near Dundee
The project was achieved through close teamworking between the 3 main parties involved, Arqiva (site owner and operator), Babcock Networks (main contractor) & Helirig.
Despite adverse weather conditions the work was completed in 3 consecutive days. By conventional means this work could have taken several months.
So Helirig with a heavy-lift Super Puma has helped bring significant time savings and reduced operational complexity to the Digital Switch Over programme.
